What Are Amorphous Block Cores?

Amorphous block cores are precision-cut magnetic cores made from amorphous alloy ribbons that have no long-range atomic order. Unlike toroidal or C-shaped cores, block cores are cut into rectangular or custom geometries for applications requiring planar mounting, tight packaging, or integration into laminated structures. Their amorphous structure results in superior magnetic properties such as low hysteresis loss, high permeability, and excellent thermal stability—making them suitable for high-frequency and high-efficiency circuits.

POURLEROI’s amorphous block cores are manufactured using advanced ribbon slitting, stacking, and annealing processes to ensure optimal magnetic performance. They are especially well-suited for transformer modules, planar magnetic circuits, and power inductors that must operate with minimal energy loss.
These cores support high saturation flux densities (~1.56T) and offer low core loss over a broad frequency range, outperforming traditional silicon steel and ferrite alternatives in medium- to high-frequency designs. Amorphous block cores can be gapped or ungapped, coated or uncoated, and customized for specific voltage insulation, EMI suppression, or core assembly needs.
